The Golden Rule: Always Start with Salts Gone®

No matter which path you choose, proper preparation is non-negotiable. Salts Gone® should always be your very first step. Flushing your undercarriage to remove hidden, corrosive salt and brine ensures your chosen coating—whether oil or paint—bonds perfectly to clean metal instead of trapping corrosive elements underneath. Both of our kits include a Salts Gone® Hose End Sprayer to get you started on the right foot.

At a Glance: Oil vs. Paint

Option 1: The Active Self-Healing Barrier (Under Gone™)

Best for: Fast applications, hidden cavities, and those who don't mind simple annual touch-ups.

If you want the easiest application process possible, our oil-based Under Gone™ system is for you. Because it remains a fluid, it actively creeps into the deepest micro-cracks, seams, and hidden frame cavities where traditional paint can't reach.

  • Easy to Apply: Minimal prep work required. Just wash the salt away with Salts Gone® and spray it on with any undercoating gun or airless sprayer.
  • Self-Healing: If road debris scratches the surface, the oil naturally flows back together to seal the wound.
  • The Trade-off: Because it is an active, soft coating, it will eventually wash or wear away over time. You will need to inspect it and apply quick maintenance touch-ups (typically once a year) to keep the protection strong.

Option 2: The Permanent Hard Shell (Thixo-Coat)

Best for: Maximum durability, exposed chassis, and those who want to do the job once and be done.

If you want to armor your undercarriage with a tough, permanent shield, the Thixo-Coat system is your ultimate solution. It cures to a heavy-duty, impenetrable shell that seals out moisture and oxygen for good, easily standing up to extreme abrasion and harsh environments.

  • Permanent Durability: Once it cures, it stays put. It won't wash off or require annual re-applications.
  • Extreme Protection: Creates a physical, hard barrier against impacts, rocks, and corrosive elements.
  • The Trade-off: A perfect finish requires perfect preparation. Applying this system is more involved, requiring multiple steps to neutralize existing rust (Rusts Gone), add galvanic protection (Zinc Booster), and finally apply the hard coat. It takes more time upfront, but pays off in years of protection.
