Salts Gone® FAQs
A good rule of thumb: if the surface can safely get wet, it’s safe for Salts Gone®.
Use it without worry on:
- Wax and ceramic coatings
- Gelcoat, paint, vinyl wraps, and SeaDek
- Trailers, rods, reels, and outboards
- Screens, glass, and marine electronics
Both products offer industry-leading salt removal and corrosion protection. However, the Aviation Formula is uniquely engineered to meet AMS1526C standards (requested by Textron Aviation). It also contains additional inhibitors specifically designed for exotic alloys like magnesium and titanium found in aircraft.
Salts Gone is meant to be used on an "as needed" basis. We recommend using Salts Gone® after every trip on the water for your boat, after every snow event for your vehicle, or after every ride for your aircraft
Frequency for other surfaces (trailers, vehicles, docks, AC Units, etc.) depends on how often they’re exposed to salt.
Not if you're using our Hose End Sprayer. It does the mixing for you.
If you're using a pump sprayer or injector, dilute at a 1:100 ratio (that’s 1.28 oz per gallon of water).
No, Salts Gone® was specifically designed not to emulsify oil, making it safe on lubricated parts like reels, hinges, and bearings, and safe to use with undercoating products, like our Under Gone™.
Salts Gone® is not designed to remove rust. However, many users report that soaking lightly rusted parts in undiluted concentrate can help lift surface rust thanks to the corrosion inhibitors.
For simple salt removal, no scrubbing is needed. Just spray and rinse.
For heavy dirt or grime, a quick brush or sponge may help activate the built-in surfactants.
Usually not. Salts Gone® contains surfactants (soap), so most replace their car/boat wash with it.
For heavy-duty messes (like fish blood and guts), you'll need something extra (check out our fishing wipes).
Water only moves salt, it doesn't eliminate it.
Salts Gone® breaks the chemical bond of salt on contact and leaves corrosion inhibitors behind. Rinsing alone just pushes salt into tight spaces where rust thrives.
Under Gone™ FAQs
Under Gone™ is a Rust Converting Salt Barrier that not only protects your vehicle from corrosion but also chemically converts existing rust into a stable, protective layer (it actually passivates metal).
No, Under Gone™ is a non-drying grease formula. While it develops a "dry-to-the-touch" outer skin, it remains a soft grease underneath to ensure it doesn't crack or peel, allowing it to move with your vehicle and provide a self-healing barrier.
Under Gone™ uses advanced calcium sulfonate chemistry with conventional rust converters to react with rust at the surface, stabilizing it into an inert layer. This process both halts further corrosion and creates a base for the protective barrier that blocks salt, brine, and moisture.
Traditional coatings mainly cover rust without stopping its spread. Under Gone™ stands out because it is a rust converter and corrosion inhibitor in one, delivering stronger adhesion, better salt resistance, and longer-lasting performance under harsh driving conditions.
No, Under Gone™ is not a paint, and it won’t harden like one. It’s a water-based grease undercoating that lightly dries as the water evaporates, but it will always remain greasy to the touch. This is by design, as it forms a highly hydrophobic barrier that prevents salt and moisture from ever reaching the metal surface.
Yes. Under Gone™ is specifically designed to convert and stabilize existing rust before sealing it. For best results, remove loose or flaking rust and rinse with Salts Gone® to eliminate soluble chlorides prior to application.
Under Gone™ can be applied using an undercoating gun, sprayer, or brush. Simply prep the surface and apply evenly.
Under Gone™ is built for long-term adhesion and durability, resisting wash-off, heat, and pressure. The product should be allowed to dry before being exposed to the elements. It should be inspected annually and touched up as needed, especially in high-wash areas.
Yes. Unlike strong-smelling lanolin or solvent-based coatings, Under Gone™ is virtually odorless and safe to use in a garage or shop setting with standard ventilation.
Absolutely. Under Gone™ is ideal for trailers, off-road vehicles, farm equipment, fleets, and classic cars — anywhere rust and salt exposure is a concern.

Everything you need for fast, easy salt removal.
Simply spray Salts Gone® onto your vehicle, boat, trailer, or even your home AC unit. It’s as easy as spray, rinse, and relax. Packed with advanced corrosion inhibitors and surfactants, it’s a triple threat that removes salt, cleans surfaces, and protects your investment in one step.
Stop Rust: Convert, Don't Just Cover.
Under Gone™ is redefining undercoating. Formulated with an industrial-grade Calcium Sulfonate base, it doesn't just hide existing rust—it’s the first undercoating designed to convert it. Once applied, it leaves a hydrophobic grease barrier that actively creeps into tight crevices, providing a self-healing shield against road salt, brine, and moisture.
