How to Use Salts Gone® with a Foam Cannon
A foam cannon is one of the easiest ways to apply Salts Gone®. Since every foam cannon works differently, it’s important to adjust the solution according to your machine’s default mixing ratio to achieve the correct 1:100 dilution rate. This guide will walk you through the process.
What You’ll Need:
✔️ Salts Gone® concentrate
✔️ Foam cannon
✔️ Pressure washer
✔️ Water source
Step 1: Determine Your Foam Cannon's Default Mixing Ratio
Each foam cannon has a different mixing ratio, which determines how much solution is pulled from the reservoir versus water from the pressure washer. For most foam cannons, the default ratio is usually listed in your instruction manual.
Our goal is to reach a 1:100 (1%) dilution with Salts Gone® when spraying.
Step 2: Mix Salts Gone® Based on Your Foam Cannon's Ratio
If your foam cannon has a default setting lower than 1:100 (e.g., 1:10 or 1:20), it will pull too much Salts Gone unless you pre-dilute it. Here are a few common scenarios:
- If your foam cannon has a 1:10 ratio (pulls 1 part from the bottle for every 10 parts of water), mix 10 parts water to 1 part Salts Gone® concentrate in the reservoir.
- If your foam cannon uses a 1:20 ratio, mix 20 parts water to 1 part Salts Gone® concentrate in the reservoir.
💡 Example: If your cannon pulls 1:10, you can fill the reservoir with 3 ounces of Salts Gone® per 30 ounces of water, and the machine will dilute it down to the correct 1% solution when spraying. If unsure, start with 2-3 oz in your bottle and test the foam coverage to ensure proper dilution.
The exact measurements may need slight adjustments based on your equipment, but this step provides a solid guideline for achieving the correct dilution when applying Salts Gone®. And remember, using too much Salts Gone® won’t cause any harm!
Step 3: Attach the Foam Cannon to Your Pressure Washer
- Securely connect the foam cannon to the pressure washer wand or gun.
- Adjust the foam cannon nozzle to control foam thickness and spray pattern.
Step 4: Apply Salts Gone®
- Spray the foam onto all surfaces, starting from the bottom and working your way up.
- Allow the foam to dwell for 1-2 minutes to neutralize and break down salt deposits.
You don’t need to scrub—let Salts Gone® do the work!
Step 5: Rinse Thoroughly
- Remove the foam cannon from the wand.
- Switch to clean water and rinse all surfaces thoroughly using the pressure washer.
Final Tips for Using a Foam Cannon with Salts Gone®
✔️ After Salt Exposure: Apply Salts Gone® immediately to protect against corrosion.
✔️ Rinse Well: Ensure all foam is removed.
✔️ Clean Equipment: Rinse your foam cannon and pressure washer after each use to prevent buildup.
